MADRAS POLICE MUSIC BAND
The Madras Police Music Band was set up during the Colonial period. The musicians were personally trained by British and Irish officers. The techniques of playing the Bassoon, a wood-wind instrument in the double reed family were also passed on to the Madras Police by the Irish and the British. From playing in a police parade as a symbol of grandeur to playing on the roads to create awareness among the public during the pandemic, the Madras Police Music band has proved its versatility.
