The Tamil Nadu police force are equipped with very sophisticated rifles like the AK-47, INSAS rifles, grenade launchers, etc. making it one of the elite forces of the country. Majority of the equipment used by the Tamil Nadu police are manufactured by Indian Ordnance Factories controlled by the Ordnance Factories Board, Ministry of Defence, and the Government of India.
