The major tools to crack any crime investigation case are the photos and the fingerprint evidences available at the scene of crime. The first known use of camera by the Police department was to record still images for documentation purposes. The technology has evolved from using a Hunter Penrose to using the latest DSLR making it easier to hunt down on the criminals. While the Police photography department started in mid-1900s, the Tamil Nadu Fingerprint Bureau was set up in 1895 making it the oldest in the country.
